Sensei Dan Lake

Sensei Dan Lake began training at the UCSD dojo in October, 1996, and has been part of the Aoinagi family ever since. After earning his Shodan in 1999, Sensei Lake was accepted for Bushi training by Sensei Neville Billimoria and was promoted to Sensei in November, 2016. In addition to studying Aoinagi-Ha Shito-Ryu karate, Sensei Lake has trained with practitioners of Shorinji-Ryu, Shorin-Ryu, Shaolin Kempo Karate, and Shotokan karate over the years.

Sensei Lake is an Associate Professor of Political Science for the State University of New York at Plattsburgh, where he teaches courses in International Relations and Comparative Politics. He does research on international uses of force and the impact of technological change on military organizations.
